Turn Customer Reviews Into Content With AI
You have good reviews sitting on your Google Business Profile and your Facebook Page, and every week you still stare at a blank caption box wondering what to post. The proof that your business is worth trusting is already written, in your customers' own words. This guide shows you how to gather it in one place, ask for more without breaking any platform's rules, and turn it into captions, page copy, and Messenger replies — using AI only to sort and draft around the reviews, never to write the review itself.
Step 1: Collect what you already have
Open a blank Google Doc or Notes file and start pasting. On your Google Business Profile, open the Reviews section and copy each review's text by hand — there is no one-click export button. On Facebook, what used to be called Reviews is now Recommendations; open that tab on your Page, and if you don't see it, switch it on in your Page settings first. If you sell on Shopee, your reviews live on the Review Management page in Seller Centre. On Lazada, the same job is done from the Ratings & Reviews page in Seller Center. None of these hands you a tidy bulk download, so budget 20 to 30 minutes for the first pass. Note the platform, date, and product beside each review as you paste it.
Step 2: Ask for more, the right way
After a good sale, delivery, or service call, just ask — a Messenger follow-up, a card in the package, or a QR code at the counter pointing to your Google review link. What you must not do is offer a discount, a freebie, or any reward in exchange for a review, or for changing or deleting a bad one. Google's policy on fake engagement bans this outright, and Meta's Community Feedback Policy says feedback must not be directly or indirectly incentivised unless it is disclosed as branded content. Break either rule and you risk the review being removed or your listing being restricted. One exception: Shopee runs its own Review Prize tool, where you fund a Shopee Coins budget and Shopee automatically credits every buyer whose review qualifies — you cannot pick which ones get rewarded. That is Shopee-only; do not copy the pattern onto Google or Facebook. For a longer testimonial, ask a happy repeat customer directly and say where you will use it.
Step 3: Let AI sort the pile by objection
Paste your collected reviews into ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini — all three have a usable free tier — and ask it to group the reviews by the doubt each one quietly answers, not by star rating or date. A review that says the price felt worth it answers "too expensive." One about the rider arriving on time answers "will they actually show up." One about a smooth GCash or card payment answers "is it safe to pay online." Sorting is the only job AI does here: read, label, group. It never touches the wording inside a review.
Step 4: Turn one review into several assets
Pick your strongest review for each objection and reuse it four ways. First, a caption that opens with the objection — "Was it worth the price? Here's what one client said" — and lets the review's own words answer it. Second, a short proof block pasted word for word near the price or the order button on your product or landing page. Third, a saved reply you paste into Messenger or Viber the next time a customer raises that same doubt. Fourth, a plain one-slide graphic quoting the review with the customer's first name — only if you have permission to use their name off-platform.
The part you cannot shortcut
Read this as a rule, not a suggestion — it is the part that protects your business. Never let AI rewrite, polish, or paraphrase the words inside a review; the moment you change a customer's wording it stops being their testimonial and becomes your own copy wearing their name. Never invent a review or merge two customers into one quote. Always get permission before lifting a name, a photo, or a profile screenshot off the platform it was posted on. And if a testimonial came from someone you paid or gave something free to, label it as paid or gifted — that is the disclosure Meta's policy requires.
There is a legal reason on top of the platform rules. Article 50 of Republic Act No. 7394, the Consumer Act of the Philippines, treats representing a product as having a sponsorship, approval, characteristic, or benefit it does not have as a deceptive sales practice, enforced by the DTI. A fabricated review or a quietly reworded testimonial is the kind of claim that law was written to catch. Real reviews, quoted as written, carry none of that risk.
Make it a 20-minute monthly habit
Once a month, spend 15 to 20 minutes adding any new reviews to your running document, re-running the sorting pass on just the new ones, and turning one or two of them into a caption or a proof block. That is the whole system. You are not launching a campaign every time — you are doing light upkeep on proof you already earned, so you always have something real to post instead of staring at an empty screen.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use a Google or Facebook review in a graphic or ad without asking the customer?
Quoting a public review on the platform where it was posted is normal practice. Reusing the customer's name, photo, or a screenshot of their profile somewhere else — a landing page, a graphic, a paid ad — is safest with their permission, since it also involves their personal information. A quick message asking if you can use their words in a post costs nothing and prevents a dispute later.
Can I offer a discount or freebie in exchange for a Google or Facebook review?
No. Google's fake engagement policy bans offering incentives for posting, revising, or removing reviews, and Meta's Community Feedback Policy says feedback must not be directly or indirectly incentivised unless it is disclosed in line with its branded content rules. Both can lead to the review being removed or your Page or listing being restricted. Asking for an honest review, with nothing attached, is always fine.
Is Shopee's Review Prize the same thing that is banned on Google and Facebook?
No. Review Prize is a feature Shopee itself runs: you set a Shopee Coins budget and a reward per qualifying review, and Shopee automatically credits every buyer whose review meets its criteria. You cannot choose which reviews get rewarded, so it is not a seller quietly paying for a good rating. It is Shopee-only — do not assume the same mechanic is safe on your Google Business Profile or Facebook Page.
Can I let an AI tool polish a customer's review before I post it as a caption?
No. Rewriting or paraphrasing the words inside a review turns a customer's testimonial into your own marketing copy with someone else's name on it, and it can misrepresent what they actually said. Use AI to sort your reviews and to draft the caption or headline that leads into one, then paste the review's own wording exactly as written.
What is the legal risk in the Philippines if I invent a customer review?
Beyond breaching each platform's rules, Article 50 of Republic Act No. 7394, the Consumer Act of the Philippines, treats representing a product or service as having a sponsorship, approval, characteristic, or benefit it does not have as a deceptive sales act or practice, enforced by the Department of Trade and Industry. Treat a fake review as a compliance problem, not a marketing shortcut.
Do I have to disclose it if I gave a customer a free product for an honest review?
Yes. If anything of value — a free item, a discount, a payment — changed hands to get the feedback, label that testimonial as paid or gifted wherever you reuse it. Meta's Community Feedback Policy only permits incentivised feedback when it is disclosed under its branded content rules, and posting it as if it were unprompted misrepresents how you got it.
