Manila nightlife: where to go, what it costs, how to get home

Metro Manila doesn't have one nightlife district. It has a dozen, each with its own crowd, prices and closing time. This guide covers all of them, with every venue on its own page: 1,402 bars, clubs, rooftops, KTV rooms and live-music rooms so far.

What changed in 2026

  • XYLO at The Palace closed in January 2026. The Palace now runs Revel, Clubhouse, Yes Please and Medusa.
  • Since 6 April 2026, Metro Manila police enforce a ban on drinking in the street, a 10pm limit on karaoke outside, and no shirtless walking. Poblacion, BGC, Malate, Katipunan, Maginhawa and Timog are patrolled. Drink inside the bar.
  • 800 tourist police deployed from April 2026, starting in BGC and Poblacion. 911 is the single emergency number.
  • The barangay elections set for 2 November 2026 were moved to 2028, so the usual election-eve liquor ban isn't scheduled. A Supreme Court case is pending; we'll update this if that changes.

What a night costs

  • Cocktails in Poblacion: about ₱235 to ₱555 (bar menus, April 2024). In BGC: ₱185 at a sports bar to about ₱510 at a cocktail bar (April 2024).
  • Beer at a neighbourhood bar: roughly ₱120 to ₱180, less at happy hour.
  • Big-club walk-in in BGC: ₱1,000 to ₱1,500, often with drinks (2024 listings; check before you go). Tables start around ₱5,000 consumable.
  • KTV rooms: about ₱1,900 to ₱2,500 for three hours at the chains (February 2024).

Rules at the door

  • Drinking age is 18. Bring a physical passport or driver's licence; photos of IDs are refused at some clubs.
  • Covered shoes. No rubber slippers; men in shorts or sleeveless tops get turned away at the bigger clubs.
  • Most venues take cards and GCash; carry some cash for small bars and late food.

Getting home

  • Grab is the way home. Book from inside the venue or a well-lit spot; there's a rush between midnight and 2am, and fares surge in rain.
  • Avoid unmetered taxis. If you take one, insist on the meter or use a hotel or mall taxi stand.
  • The MRT stops early: the last train from Taft leaves at 11:09pm on weekdays and 10:09pm on weekends.

Staying safe

  • Never leave a drink unattended, and stick to sealed or bar-made drinks.
  • Check every bill before you pay, especially in Malate and Ermita, where touts and padded bills are the usual trouble.
  • Keep phone and wallet in front pockets and go out in groups of three or more if you're new to the city.

Questions people ask

What time do clubs close in Manila?

Most clubs in Makati and BGC open around 9 to 11pm and run until 3 to 5am; a few Poblacion rooms go to 8am on weekends. Check each venue's page for its own hours.

How much is the cover charge?

In 2024 listings, walk-in entry at BGC clubs was ₱1,000 to ₱1,500, often with drinks included. Many bars charge nothing. Prices change, so check before you go.

What's the drinking age, and what ID do I need?

18. Bring a physical passport or driver's licence; some venues, The Palace included, no longer accept photos of IDs.

Is Poblacion safe at night?

It's busy and walkable. Stay on the main streets (P. Burgos, Felipe, Enriquez, Don Pedro, Jupiter), keep your phone in a front pocket, and book a Grab from inside the venue. Tourist police patrol Poblacion and BGC since April 2026; call 911 for emergencies.

Do I need to book a table?

Not for most bars. For big clubs on Fridays and Saturdays, book a day ahead if you want a table; tables come with a consumable minimum.
